Check of a condition of protective covers of power shafts

Protective covers of power shafts are very important elements since they protect hinges of equal angular speeds (CV JOINT) from hit on them of dirt, water and other extraneous subjects causing damages. External pollution of protective covers by oil and greasings can lead to premature failure of a material of covers therefore it is recommended to wash periodically covers with water with soap.
Lift and establish the car on supports.
Remove the bottom cover of an impellent compartment, address to the Section Removal and installation of the top cover of the engine / the bottom protection of an impellent compartment/stretcher.

Shine with a lamp protective covers (1) and check them on existence of cracks. Pay attention to existence of traces of greasing on covers and near them. In case of detection of signs of cracks or leakage of greasing the cover should be replaced.

If a cover will involve inside or has damage, it is necessary to replace it immediately.
Check reliability of fastening of collars (2).
At the same time check the general condition of hinges of equal angular speeds, holding a shaft and at the same time trying to turn a wheel. Repeat attempt, holding the internal hinge of equal angular speeds and turning a shaft. Any appreciable люфт points to wear of the hinge, wear in grooves of a shaft or an otvorachivaniye of a lock nut of a shaft.
Establish into place the bottom cover of an impellent compartment.
Lower the car on wheels.
