Removal and installation of the fuel pump with the sensor of a stock of fuel

The fuel pump with the sensor of a stock of fuel. Petrol engine of all-wheel drive model

The fuel pump is together with the sensor of a stock of fuel in a fuel tank. All-wheel drive models owing to need of placement of the driveshaft have a fuel tank, two-piece. In this case in each chamber the sensor of a stock of fuel is located. In the right chamber there is an electric fuel pump.

On an illustration the fuel pump of the petrol engine of all-wheel drive cars above is shown. The description belongs also to cars with the diesel engine of 1.9 l, and also to diesel engines of 2.5 l about 5/02 releases.

The sensor of a stock of fuel consists of a float and a potentiometer. At decrease in level of fuel the sensor float falls also. The potentiometer connected with a float, increases thus electric resistance of the sensor. Tension on dashboards and the index of a stock of fuel thus goes down "empty" moves in the direction. At cars with a fuel tank, two-piece, the processor of a control panel calculates the general stock of fuel on the basis of signals of two sensors then gives out a signal on the index of a stock of fuel.

At cars with the petrol engine with direct injection the regulator of pressure of fuel is built in the block of supply of fuel. The regulator of pressure cannot be disconnected from the block of supply of fuel.

At removal of the fuel pump a fuel quantity can flow out. Fuel pairs are poisonous and inflammable. Therefore watch good ventilation of a workplace. Use the gloves resistant in relation to influence of fuel. Do not apply some open fire, danger of a fire! Keep in readiness the fire extinguisher.

Before removal of the fuel pump and the sensor empty as much as possible fuel tank. The tank should be filled no more, than on 2/3. The radial fan which electric motor is outside of an air stream can be applied to ventilation of a workplace and has productivity not less than 15 m 3 / hour.

Models with a forward drive

Removal

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

    Disconnect a negative cable (-) the storage battery.

Observe indications of the Section Replacement of the storage battery.

    Sedan: Cast away, if necessary, forward the right back of a back seat. Remove luggage carrier facing, address to the Section Removal and installation of facings (Sedan). Versatile person: Remove the left back, and also the left facing of a luggage carrier and a bath for dirt, address to the Section Removal and installation of facings (Versatile person).
    Disconnect a cover for a locking flange (an arrow on an accompanying illustration).
    Release carefully a hand or a small screw-driver the 4-contact socket of the sensor of a stock of fuel and the fuel pump (the shooter on an accompanying illustration) and disunite it.

The pipeline of supply of fuel is under pressure! Before opening of shlangovy connection cover it with a thick rag. Then remove pressure by a careful detachment of a hose. Use goggles.

    Mark with a felt-tip pen fuel pipelines (1/2) before a detachment.
    Disconnect pipelines (1) giving and return (2), having compressed for this purpose keys for fixing on connecting couplings. Close pipelines the corresponding jams or a sticky tape. Models with lay heating: In addition disconnect the pipeline of supply of fuel to lay heating.
    Unscrew a cap nut the special tool 3217.

If the specified tool available is not present, unscrew a cap nut in easy blows of a hammer through wooden whetstone.

Avoid spark emergence.

    Take out a few block of giving the fuel/sensor of a stock and a sealing ring from an opening of a fuel tank. Shift a locking flange at the block of giving of fuel inserted in a fuel tank a little aside.
    Release an ezhektor (1). For this purpose undertake a hand through a crack between a locking flange and an adjusting opening in a fuel tank.
    Take out an ezhektor (1) with even attached hose of a driving stream (2) up.
    Disconnect a hose of a power stream from an ezhektor for what press a fixing key.
    Models with lay heating about 2/03 releases: Disconnect soaking-up hose (1) for lay heating in a junction (2). For this purpose press a fixing key.
    Take out an ezhektor. Take out the block of supply of fuel. Merge fuel from the block of supply of fuel in a tank or any other capacity.
    If necessary, remove the sensor of a stock of fuel. For this purpose disunite sockets (1) and (2). Raise a screw-driver about basic levels (3) and (4) and remove the sensor down (an arrow on an accompanying illustration).

Installation

 PERFORMANCE ORDER

    If necessary, insert the stock sensor into supply of fuel directing on the block and press up so that the sensor was fixed. Fix the socket. Check reliability of fastening. Put on a delivery hose ezhektor accession. Insert the block of supply of fuel into a tank. Fix an ezhektor on the block of supply of fuel. For this purpose undertake a hand through a crack between a locking flange and an adjusting opening of a fuel tank.

Ezhektor should be fixed distinctly.

    Insert new consolidation of a locking flange into an opening of a fuel tank.
    Check position of the block of supply of fuel: The label on a locking flange (2) should coincide with a label on a fuel tank (1). If necessary, carefully turn the giving block. Tighten a cap nut of a locking flange the special tool 3217 the moment 80Нм. It is possible to tighten a nut in easy blows of a hammer through wooden whetstone. Avoid formation of sparks! Put on according to the put labels giving and return hoses. Thus fix quick disconnect couplings. Shooters on a flange specify the direction of a stream of liquid. Join the 4-contact socket. Attach a negative cable (-) the storage battery.

Observe indications of the Section Replacement of the storage battery.

    Further installation is carried out in sequence, return to removal.

Models with a full drive and front-wheel with the 6-cylinder diesel engine of release to 4/02

The key is necessary for an otvorachivaniye of a locking ring 3087. Tightening moment 145Нм.

The locking flange is authorized to be opened only at the fuel tank filled no more than on 1/4. A large amount of fuel otherwise follows.

In the right chamber the fuel pump with the sensor of a stock 1 is established. In the left tank the sensor of a stock 2 is established.

The all-wheel drive car, and also the front-wheel car with the 6-cylinder diesel engine of release to 4/02: The fuel pump is fixed by a bayanetny lock. For its removal it is necessary to turn to the left on a corner 15 ° the special tool. At installation it is necessary to turn respectively to the right. On a bayanetny lock are two notches and the shooter specifying in the direction "is closed".
